Counsellor – Exceptionality

At Muskoka Woods, we welcome a diverse range of guests and strive to create a safe, fun environment that builds confidence. The Exceptionality Program allows children and youth with special needs (including Autism Spectrum Disorder) to experience camp with the support they need for a successful week. We provide tailored assistance for each child’s physical, intellectual, social, or behavioural needs and integrate them into camp programming to the extent possible and appropriate, with guidance from our exceptionalities team. The job of an Exceptionality Counsellor is to support and connect with our exceptionality guests. Exceptionality Counsellors provide care to assigned guests through check-ins and one-on-one support, ensuring our guests' needs are not just met, but exceeded. That means being actively involved in their day - joining in on activities, offering encouragement, and lending a hand to our guests for their specific needs. Depending on the number of exceptionality guests on site, they may also be asked to help with other camp responsibilities which changes their weekly schedule. Instructor Canoe & Kayak

Canoe & Kayak Instructors are responsible for leading fun and safe activities that help our guests learn new skills, make friends, and have an awesome time! Instructors run activities from 9am to noon and 2pm to 5pm each day, bringing high energy and quality instruction to their area. Each day kicks off and wraps up with team meetings, plus setup and cleanup of their area. Heads up: all instructors also help out with our Stayover Program by leading activities, staying in guest cabins as a stayover counsellor, and pitching in with a cleaning crew. They also assist with evening programs where assigned and participate in Sunday Arrivals. Instructors will also be assigned as transportation staff on at least one Saturday or Sunday throughout the summer. read more

Instructor Culinary Arts

Culinary Arts Instructors are responsible for leading fun and safe activities that help our guests learn new skills, make friends, and have an awesome time! Instructors run activities from 9am to noon and 2pm to 5pm each day, bringing high energy and quality instruction to their area. These activities include Culinary, Cake Decorating, and Baking. Each day kicks off and wraps up with team meetings, plus setup and cleanup of their area. Heads up: all instructors also help out with our Stayover Program by leading activities, staying in guest cabins as a stayover counsellor, and pitching in with a cleaning crew. They also assist with evening programs where assigned and participate in Sunday Arrivals. Instructor Host – Timbergrove Lodge

Timbergrove Lodge has the privilege of hosting our partner groups, supported by the Muskoka Woods Youth Foundation, throughout the summer. TGL Host Instructors are responsible for leading fun and safe activities that help our Timbergrove Lodge guests learn new skills, grow friendships, and have an awesome time! They bring energy and enthusiasm to the daily routine, making sure everyone has a blast while learning something new. TGL Hosts are key to making the experience unforgettable. They journey with the group all week, fostering safety, leading activities, joining in on events, building friendships and capturing stories. Heads up: TGL Host Instructors join in on the fun during the TGL evening program once per week! It’s a great opportunity to hang out, participate in the Crew or Senior High Program, relax by the campfire, or get into a lively game of volleyball or basketball. read more

Instructor Kraken Waterslide

Kraken Instructors are responsible for leading fun and safe activities that help our guests learn new skills, make friends, and have an awesome time! They are in charge of running the Kraken Waterslide during shifts between 9am and 7pm, bringing tons of energy and top-notch instruction to each lesson. Each day kicks off and wraps up with team meetings, plus setup and cleanup of their area. Heads up: all instructors also help out with our Stayover Program by leading activities, staying in guest cabins as a stayover counsellor, and pitching in with a cleaning crew. They also assist with evening programs where assigned and participate in Sunday Arrivals. Lifeguard

Lifeguards are responsible for supervising the swim beach, creating a safe and fun environment that help our guests learn new skills, make friends, and have an awesome time! Lifeguards oversee the swim beach in shifts from 9am to 5pm, bringing high energy and quality instruction to their area. Each day kicks off and wraps up with team meetings, plus setup and cleanup of their area. Heads up: all instructors also help out with our Stayover Program by leading activities, staying in guest cabins as a stayover counsellor, and pitching in with a cleaning crew. They also assist with evening programs where assigned and participate in Sunday Arrivals. Instructor Laser Tag

Laser Tag Instructors are responsible for leading fun and safe activities that help our guests learn new skills, make friends, and have an awesome time! Instructors run activities from 9am to noon and 2pm to 5pm each day, plus the laser tag pass program from 12:00 to 1:30pm during lunch, bringing high energy and quality instruction to their area. Each day kicks off and wraps up with team meetings, plus setup and cleanup of their area.
