Job Description

From September to June, the Schools & Groups team turns ordinary weeks into extraordinary adventures! Whether it’s middle schoolers zip-lining for the first time, high schoolers bonding over campfires, or adults recharging on a team retreat and enjoying the food and facilities, we create life-changing experiences for everyone who visits. Each year, we welcome over 25,000 guests - students from grades 6 to 12, corporate groups, and church retreats—bringing energy, excitement, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Muskoka Woods believes that pouring into our staff and providing wholistic care for each person will result in an overflow of safety and care for our guests. The Staff Coach Leadership role makes that a reality, along with our Leadership Staff who contribute to the overall staff care.

The role of the Staff Coach is to work alongside the Human Resources team to support and care for our staff, both individually and as a community. They are responsible for coordinating and executing activities that focus on personal, spirtual, and social development. This looks like organizing our weekly staff service (Cadence), including booking speakers, coordinating worship teams, and producing small group material. The Staff Coach will also facilitate a weekly bible study, and may be required to speak at Cadence and Staff Weeks. This role helps pair staff in our One-to-One mentoring program to foster growth and connections, and is responsible to organize fun social events to strengthen our community. The Staff Coach also assists the full time Human Resource team by fullfilling administrative tasks pertaining to employment of the seasonal staff when needed.

As part of the broader Leadership Team, the Staff Coach is THE champion of staff ministry initiatives, staff care and community life – including planning staff events, leading small groups, or just being a steady presence in the highs and lows of camp life. Being part of leadership means contributing to shaping the staff team through planning Staff Development weeks, participating in our One to One mentoring program and building strong, meaningful connections with our staff.

Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.

**Please note: All positions are required to work in other areas including program, washing dishes, housekeeping, grounds keeping and snow removal, and office coverage.

Skills and Attributes Required

Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.

Staff Coach applicants must be passionate about ministry, people and community. They must be comfortable leading a room, speaking from the front, and be skilled at collaborating across teams. The Staff Coach must have a friendly and approachable demeanor, and be comfortable with coordinating events, following up on details and solving issues. Previous leadership exprience is preferred, with skills in organization, time management, conflict resolution, and team communication.

All Leadership applicants must also have a desire to work in, live with, and contribute to a community that prioritizes leadership, personal growth, and friendship.

Salary Range

$300.00 /week plus room and board

Contract Dates

August 31, 2025 – June 14, 2026

This is a 10 month contract

Please note that employees hired into this position are required to take unpaid time off from December 12th, 2025 to January 2nd, 2026.

Essential Functions Required

  • Be able to help guests and staff in emergencies
  • Have the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of guests and/or staff
  • Have the ability to travel around camp with guests
  • Join in on activities for 6 - 8 hours a day
  • Lead both small and large group activities
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and guests both in person and on the phone
  • Participate in work projects that involve lifting and carrying 10 - 30 lbs

  • Please note:  All staff stay in shared staff accommodation.
  • Please note: All Staff are required to live on property in Rosseau, Ontario for the duration of their contract.
