Job Description

The Hospitality department’s primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service and hospitality to our guests and staff. Hospitality staff help to provide a seamless experience by serving the needs of the guests, noticing details, taking initiative to ensure staff and guests feel cared for, and creating a clean and inviting environment for all.

The primary role of the Kitchen Service Supervisor within this department is to assist the Dining Hall Manager in all things related to leading staff, managing outcomes and serving guests. The Kitchen Service Supervisor oversees the Kitchen staff and are responsible to create a fun and productive team environment for our young staff while providing a quality and customer friendly dining experience for all staff and guests. All Kitchen staff are also required to contribute to the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and dining hall areas through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, garbage removal, wiping down of surfaces, sanitizing work stations, food prep areas and washing dishes. Aprons will be provided for each shift. A typical shift for the Kitchen Supervisor is varied throughout the week (Breakfast/Lunch 6:00am – 2:30pm, Lunch/Dinner 11:00am – 7:30pm, Breakfast/Dinner 6:00am – 10:30am & 4:00pm – 7:30pm)

Leadership staff are regularly assigned to the Shutdown schedule and the Dining Room Maitre'd schedule. Leadership staff also contribute to the overall ministry to staff and are required to lead a staff small group and participate in our One to One staff mentoring program.


All leadership staff contribute to alternate duties on guest arrival and departure days as well as the weekend stayover program.

Leadership staff may be required to act as a "Staff Dorm Parent" within their accommodations. Expectations include: establishing and maintaining a healthy cabin culture, supporting and upholding all Muskoka Woods policies as well as directly addressing any conflicts that arise within the accommodations to the best of their ability.

Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.

Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.

Kitchen Leadership applicants must have leadership experience, a customer service mindset, be attentive to detail, take initiative, and a strong work ethic. Applicants must also have the desire to work with young staff and to create a positive, encouraging and fun atmosphere. Experience working in a kitchen/food production environment is preferred but not required.

Salary Range

$250 – $280 per week plus room and board.

Full Summer Bonus

Each leadership employee who commits their entire summer will qualify for a $400 bonus to be given at the end of the summer.

Contract Dates

June 2 - August 30, 2024

Essential Functions

  • Have physical strength & ability to lift/move small and large objects (ie. vacuum cleaner, garbage bags, boxes, and inventory)
  • Possess the ability to work for 7- 9 hours at a time
  • Ability to participate in work projects – lifting and carrying between 10 – 30 lbs
  • Be able to stoop, bend, and crouch
    Have the ability to communicate well with staff and guests
