Job Description

The Hospitality department’s primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service and hospitality to our guests and staff. Hospitality staff help to provide a seamless experience by serving the needs of the guests, noticing details, taking initiative to ensure staff and guests feel cared for, and creating a clean and inviting environment for all.

The primary role of the Food Prep staff within this department is to work alongside the Cooks in the daily preparation of all meals including preparing the yogurt and salad buffets. Tasks include but are not limited to: receiving inventory, chopping vegetables, panning food, slicing lunch meat, wrapping sandwiches, deep-frying, grilling and BBQ’ing. All Food Prep staff are also required to contribute to the overall cleanliness of the kitchen through sweeping, mopping, garbage removal, washing dishes, wiping down of surfaces, and sanitizing work stations and food prep areas. A Chef’s jacket will be provided for each shift. A typical shift for the Food Prep staff is varied throughout the week (Breakfast/Lunch 6:00am – 2:30pm, Lunch/Dinner 11:00am – 7:30pm, Breakfast/Dinner 6:00am – 10:30am & 4:00pm – 7:30pm)

Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.

This position has the opportunity to also transition into the Summer Office Leadership position in Summer 2023.

Skills and Attributes Required

Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.

Kitchen staff must have a strong work ethic, have a customer service mindset, be a team player, have a positive attitude, be willing to work early morning shifts, and perform manual labour (unloading inventory, cleaning, mopping). Experience and a desire to work within the Kitchen Industry is preferred.

Salary Range

$200 – $230 per week plus room and board

Contract Dates

June 23 - September 1, 2023

Essential Functions

  • Have physical strength & ability to lift/move small and large objects (ie. vacuum cleaner, garbage bags, boxes, and inventory)
  • Possess the ability to work for 7- 9 hours at a time
  • Ability to participate in work projects – lifting and carrying between 10 – 30 lbs
  • Be able to stoop, bend, and crouch
    Have the ability to communicate well with staff and guests
