Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth development organization that welcomes everyone to an experience for a lifetime. We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake Rosseau and specialize in summer camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development for all ages. We exist to inspire youth to shape their world.

Job Description

The Arts & Athletics team is behind all the amazing activities guests get to do everyday. They’re all about inspiring youth to try new things, fostering skill development, building confidence and of course, having fun!

Area Heads are in charge of overseeing the activities in their area, making sure it is safe, fun, and a space where guests can develop their skills! The Culinary Arts Area Head’s assigned areas are as follows: Baking, Cake Decorating, and Culinary. They lead and support their team of instructors, handling training, coaching, and providing feedback. They are responsible for managing all equipment for their area, writing and updating lesson plans, dealing with guest issues, and of course providing top notch customer service. A day in the life looks like running activities from 9am to noon and 2pm to 5pm, with daily team meetings and setup/cleanup at the start and end of each day.
Heads up: Area Heads will be responsible for helping lead and execute our weekend stayover program. This will include overseeing instructors at activities, work projects and helping to lead evening program. Area Heads will also be assigned to be a Transportation Bus Captain at least once throughout the summer.

All leadership staff contribute to alternate duties on guest arrival and departure days as well as the weekend stayover program.

Leadership staff may be required to act as a "Staff Dorm Parent" within their accommodations. Expectations include: establishing and maintaining a healthy cabin culture, supporting and upholding all Muskoka Woods policies as well as directly addressing any conflicts that arise within the accommodations to the best of their ability.

Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.

Skills and Attributes Required

Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.

Area Head applicants must be energetic, have the ability to plan and implement programs for skill development and fun, with strong skills in organization, administration, time management, conflict resolution, and communication both oral and written. Previous leadership experience, working with youth, running programs, and working at summer camps is required.

Applicants must also have an education, a passion for and/or experience in the Culinary Arts field.

Salary Range

$185 - $215 per week plus room and board

Full Summer Bonus

Each leadership employee who commits their entire summer (with some exceptions for Classic) will qualify for a $400 bonus to be given at the end of the summer.

Contract Dates

June 1 - August 29, 2025

Essential Functions

• Be able to help guests and staff in emergencies
• Have the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of guests and/or staff
• Have the ability to travel around camp with guests
• Join in on activities for 6 to 8 hours a day
• Lead both small and large group activities
• Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and guests

• Please note: All staff are required to uphold the Muskoka Woods Vision and Mission, Core Values and Aspirations, as well as all policies and procedures as outlined during our Staff Development Week held at the beginning of your contract.
• Please note: All Counsellors stay in a cabin with our guests. All other staff stay in shared staff accommodation.
• Please note: All Staff are required to live on property in Rosseau, Ontario for the duration of their contract.
