Job Description

The Support team makes up a variety of different positions that keep camp running smoothly. Whether it's supporting our ministry for guests and staff, providing excellent customer service and more, the Support team puts in the work behind the scenes.

The Health Care Centre Assistant is a part of a collaborative team of healthcare professionals consisting of the Healthcare Centre Manager, Director, a physician, and two registered nurses. Under the supervision and guidance of the HCC Manager and Director, the HCC Assistant helps with medical screening for all our summer guests. This is an administrative role where the Assistant will work alongside the HCC Manager and be responsible for working through medical form reports, screen guests, and share that information with the appropriate departments. They support guest care and promote health by ensuring that protocols under infection control are being executed properly. They will also handle any other tasks requested by the Healthcare Centre Manager and Director.

Leadership staff are regularly assigned to the Shutdown schedule and the Dining Room Maitre'd schedule.
Leadership staff also contribute to the overall ministry to staff and are required to lead a staff small group and participate in our One to One staff mentoring program.
All leadership staff contribute to alternate duties on guest arrival and departure days as well as the weekend stayover program.
Leadership staff may be required to act as a "Staff Dorm Parent" within their accommodations. Expectations include: establishing and maintaining a healthy cabin culture, supporting and upholding all Muskoka Woods policies as well as directly addressing any conflicts that arise within the accommodations to the best of their ability.

Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.

Skills and Attributes Required

Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.

The HCC Assistant must be attentive to detail and have skills in administration and organization. They should have excellent organizational skills and be able to complete tasks on time. The HCC Assistant will act as a liaison between the HCC and other departments. They will manage confidential information and complete other tasks as requested by the HCC leadership team. It is preferred that the Assistant be a nursing student.

Salary Range

$200-$230 per week plus room and board.

Full Summer Bonus

Each leadership employee who commits their entire summer (with some exceptions for Classic) will qualify for a $400 bonus to be given at the end of the summer.

Contract Dates

May 31 - September 4, 2026

Essential Functions Required

  • Be able to help guests and staff in emergencies
  • Have the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of guests and/or staff
  • Work efficiently for 7-9 hours at a time
  • Participate in work projects that involve lifting and carrying 10-30 lbs
  • Have the ability to travel around camp with guests
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with staff and guests

Additional Notes

  • All staff are required to uphold the Muskoka Woods Vision and Mission, Core Values and Aspirations, as well as all policies and procedures as outlined during our Staff Development Week held at the beginning of your contract.
  • All Counsellors stay in a cabin with our guests. All other staff stay in shared staff accommodation.
  • All Staff are required to live on property in Rosseau, Ontario for the duration of their contract.
