Job Purpose

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the operational leadership and execution of Muskoka Woods’ marketing function. This role ensures marketing initiatives are planned, coordinated, delivered on time, measured, and continuously improved.

Working closely with the Chief Customer Officer, this position provides day-to-day leadership for marketing operations, agency management, campaign execution, project management, reporting, market research, AI-enabled workflow improvements, and brand implementation across Summer Camp, Schools & Retreats, Recruitment, Camp Store, Alumni, and organizational initiatives.

Rather than serving as the organization’s primary creative resource, this role coordinates internal teams and external partners to ensure marketing projects are executed efficiently, on brand, on budget, and aligned with organizational priorities.

Key Job Functions

Marketing Operations & Project Management

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of marketing campaigns and organizational marketing initiatives.
  • Manage the annual marketing calendar, project priorities, timelines, and departmental workflows.
  • Coordinate marketing support across Summer Camp, Schools & Retreats, Recruitment, Camp Store, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee Muskoka Woods’ participation in trade shows, conferences, community events, and other promotional opportunities, including booth logistics, displays, promotional materials, staffing, and follow-up activities.
  • Ensure marketing projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Facilitate regular project planning meetings, status updates, and project reviews.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to the Content Creator.

Agency & Creative Operations

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for Muskoka Woods’ external marketing agency and other marketing vendors.
  • Translate business objectives into clear creative briefs, marketing plans, and project priorities.
  • Coordinate creative workflow between internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Manage approvals, budgets, and project timelines.
  • Oversee the development and execution of email marketing, website content, social media, digital advertising, print materials, and other customer communications.
  • Review creative deliverables for quality, accuracy, brand consistency, and alignment with organizational objectives.

AI & Operational Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI to improve marketing operations, workflow automation, reporting, and organizational efficiency.
  • Implement AI tools that improve productivity, quality, and operational effectiveness within the marketing function.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend practical applications.

Market Research & Customer Insights

  • Coordinate customer research initiatives and satisfaction surveys.
  • Analyze customer behaviour, market trends, and competitive activity.
  • Identify opportunities for customer growth, new products, and improved customer experience.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging best practices.
  • Present research findings and recommendations to organizational leadership.

Brand Stewardship & Communications

  • Ensure consistent brand standards across all customer touchpoints.
  • Review and approve marketing assets prior to release.
  • Coordinate organizational communications, including support for crisis communications when required.
  • Monitor organizational social media channels and identify opportunities or issues requiring attention.
  • Collaborate with departments across Muskoka Woods to support internal marketing and graphic design needs.

Reporting, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain marketing and other department dashboards and key performance indicators.
  • Track marketing performance metrics and campaign outcomes.
  • Analyze marketing performance, customer behaviour, and industry trends.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for organizational leaders.
  • Support data-informed decision making by identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Stay current on marketing technology, analytics, AI, and industry best practices.

Leadership & Organizational Contribution

  • Model the mission, vision, values, and leadership expectations of Muskoka Woods in all interactions.
  • Contribute positively to the Customer Engagement Team by sharing ideas, supporting projects, and fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Participate in weekly L10 meetings and other leadership meetings as required.
  • Attend corporate events including Town Halls, leadership gatherings, the Arboretum, and the annual Full-Time Staff Retreat.
  • Pursue ongoing personal, spiritual, and professional development to enhance leadership effectiveness and recruitment expertise.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Customer Officer.

Experience Required

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in marketing, marketing operations, communications, project management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or people management experience.
  • Experience managing external agencies, vendors, contractors, or cross-functional partnerships.
  • Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using marketing analytics, dashboards, reporting tools, and performance metrics to support business decisions.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and workflow automation to improve productivity and operational effectiveness is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in hospitality, tourism, recreation, camp, education, or a mission-driven organization is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel as required.
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

 

Essential Functions

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, staff, volunteers, vendors, and external partners, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to travel regularly between home, the Markham office, and the Muskoka Woods resort, including extended onsite stays during peak operational periods.

  • Ability to navigate the resort grounds in varying weather conditions while supporting events, guests, and marketing initiatives.

Salary Range

$45, 500 – $52,000

Location

From September to June this position is located as work from home but should be able to be at in person meetings in the GTA and Muskoka on a semi-regular basis with occasional travel in and outside of Ontario. 

This position is also required to be at the Resort for 3 weeks over the summer months – Accommodation is provided.
