Job Purpose

The Recruitment Manager – Seasonal Staff is responsible for leading the full-cycle recruitment and selection of exceptional seasonal team members who will deliver outstanding guest experiences and contribute to Muskoka Woods’ mission of inspiring youth to shape their world. This role develops and executes innovative recruitment strategies, builds meaningful partnerships, and oversees an engaging, efficient, and mission-driven hiring process that attracts exceptional young leaders who align with Muskoka Woods’ Christian mission, values, and culture.

Working collaboratively with the Human Resources team and department leaders across the organization, the Recruitment Manager ensures Muskoka Woods attracts, selects, and prepares a talented, diverse, and committed seasonal workforce capable of delivering safe, memorable, and life-changing experiences for every guest.

Key Job Functions

Recruitment Strategy & Workforce Planning

  • Develop and implement a year-round recruitment strategy that supports staffing requirements across all seasonal programs and operating seasons.
  • Partner with departmental leaders to understand annual workforce needs and proactively build recruitment plans to meet hiring targets.
  • Establish new contacts and recruiting avenues while maintaining partnerships, up to date contacts and mailing lists.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Christian colleges, universities, churches, camps, youth ministries, community organizations, and other mission-aligned partners.
  • Develop and manage the seasonal recruitment budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Monitor labour market trends, recruitment best practices, and emerging technologies to continually enhance recruitment effectiveness.

Employer Brand & Recruitment Marketing

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure Muskoka Woods’ seasonal employment brand authentically reflects the organization’s mission, culture, and staff experience.
  • Oversee and maintain seasonal employment content on the Muskoka Woods website and recruitment platforms.
  • Manage the Life@MW social media presence and external content creators to showcase authentic staff stories and experiences.
  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of recruitment materials, including digital and print resources, conference displays, promotional items, videos, presentations, and branded collateral.
  • Develop creative recruitment campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, and applicant conversion.
  • Evaluate recruitment marketing initiatives and recommend improvements based on performance and candidate feedback.

Recruitment Analytics & Success Measures

  • Establish annual, seasonal, and weekly recruitment scorecards aligned with organizational hiring goals.
  • Track key recruitment metrics including started and completed applications, hiring progress, source effectiveness, and staffing targets.
  • Achieve seasonal staffing targets by established hiring deadlines.
    Prepare regular recruitment reports for Human Resources and senior leadership.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives and adjust strategies based on measurable outcomes and organizational needs.

Active Recruitment and Candidate Engagement

  • Plan, coordinate, and represent Muskoka Woods at recruitment events including conferences, job fairs, church events, Christian colleges, universities, and community events.
  • Deliver engaging recruitment presentations that communicate the mission, culture, and seasonal employment opportunities at Muskoka Woods.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with prospective candidates through email, phone, social media, and other engagement strategies.
  • Manage all seasonal employment postings across online job boards, college and university career portals, co-op programs, and other recruitment platforms.
  • Develop and execute targeted recruitment initiatives for specialized staffing needs, including Resort operations and hard-to-fill positions.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with former staff, encouraging high-performing seasonal employees to return for future seasons.
  • Deliver a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.

Seasonal Hiring & Selection

  • Lead annual job launch ensuring all recruitment, selection, and hiring pieces are in place.
  • Facilitate weekly staffing meetings to review applicants, assess staffing needs, and make informed hiring decisions in partnership with department leaders.
  • Review applications, references, and candidate profiles to ensure alignment with role requirements and organizational values.
  • Conduct interviews that assess both technical capability and cultural fit.
  • Prepare and approve seasonal employment offers and contracts.
  • Partner with Human Resources and departmental leaders to support a seamless transition from recruitment to onboarding and orientation.

Leadership & Organizational Contribution

  • Model the mission, vision, values, and leadership expectations of Muskoka Woods in all interactions.
  • Contribute positively to the Human Resources team by sharing ideas, supporting projects, and fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Participate in weekly L10 meetings and other leadership meetings as required.
  • Attend corporate events including Town Halls, leadership gatherings, the Arboretum, and the annual Full-Time Staff Retreat.
  • Pursue ongoing personal, spiritual, and professional development to enhance leadership effectiveness and recruitment expertise.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Experience Required

  • College Diploma/University degree in related field
  • 2 to 3 years of work experience in Human Resources and/or Marketing related field

 

Essential Functions

  • Ability to communicate by and operate a computer for 6 to 8 hours/day
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to stand and interact with people for long periods of time

 

Salary Range

$45, 500 – $52,000

 

Location

From September to June this position is located as work from home but should be able to be at in person meetings in the GTA and Muskoka on a semi-regular basis and available for recruitment initiatives in the greater Toronto area.  Some travel across Ontario will be required. 

This position is also required to be at the Resort for 3 weeks over the summer months – Accommodation is provided.
