We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake Rosseau and specialize in summer camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development for all ages. Job Purpose

The Schools & Groups Program Coordinator is part of a team that is responsible for the delivery of unmatched developmental experiences, activity and program excellence, and world class customer service and engagement. This position contributes to leading and executing on: activity and program facility development, guest group coordination for all Schools & Groups guests (school groups, retreat groups, and Leadership Studio groups), as well as seasonal staff management.

Key Job Functions

Activity and Program Operations

  • Accountable for managing guest safety for all activity and program areas
  • Ensures programs follow OPHEA, and MW Standard Operation Procedures
  • Responsible for seasonal set up and tear down of equipment
  • Responsible for the guest readiness of activity and program areas (Leadership Studio, CEO Lodge, and other Meeting Spaces) including cleanliness, equipment set up, seasonal maintenance, safety checks and other needs as required
  • Responsible for equipment/supply inventory and management of assigned areas
  • Facilitates activities as required
  • Coordinates with other departments for guest ready spaces (Production, Maintenance, Housekeeping)

Activity and Program Development

  • Benchmarks Muskoka Woods’ current programs and makes recommendations
  • Incorporates directives of our Service Excellence goal to all activity and program areas
  • Adapts current programs and develops new programs to add value to guests
  • Responsible for the selection and maintaining of activity and program offerings for Schools & Groups
  • Works with Schools & Groups Program Manager to improve activity scheduling through brainstorming, planning, and implementing of new programming

 

Customer Service

  • Executes the absolute best customer experience for our group leaders through activity and program preparedness, onsite communication and problem solving as issues arise
  • Assists seasonal CORE members with guest related issues that arise
  • Manages and executes on guest requests in professional and timely manner
  • Trains seasonal staff how to interact with guests and group leaders
  • Instructs and coaches seasonal staff in excellent customer engagement
  • Responsible for group leader and guest survey follow-up

 

Staff Hiring, Management and Development

  • Participates in interviewing and hiring Schools & Groups Program CORE Staff
  • Participates and implements quarterly Staff Development Weeks
  • Responsible for department specific training with Schools & Groups Program CORE and seasonal staff
  • Plans and implements meetings with team and individuals ensuring growth rings are completed in a timely manner
  • Works alongside and coaches Schools & Groups Program CORE and seasonal staff as required
  • Participates in community events and initiatives as required (i.e., Cadence, one on ones, social gatherings)
  • Liaises with other departments about program needs and concerns

 

Other

  • Works cross departmentally (Maintenance, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Summer) as required
  • Participates in meetings as required
  • Participates in all corporate events including Town Hall, the Arboretum, and annual Staff Retreat
  • Personal/Professional development as required
  • Oversees Schools & Groups Program CORE Position – responsible for training, management and performance review

Experience/Qualifications required

• University/College degree in either Education, Kinesiology, Recreation & Leisure or the equivalent
• One to three years of year-round camp experience or the equivalent in working with children and youth
• Ropes Course certification and experience as asset
• NLS or Bronze Cross certification and experience an asset

Essential Functions

• Ability to lift and move 10 to 40 lbs
• Able to stand, walk and work for 6 to 8 hours
• Ability to communicate both written and verbal with staff and guests
• Possess physical and mental strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of guests and staff
