Human Resources and Staff Development Coordinator

Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth development organization that welcomes everyone to an experience for a lifetime. We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake Rosseau and specialize in summer camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development for all ages. We exist to inspire youth to shape their world.

Job Purpose

To recruit, interview, and hire a full complement of seasonal staff for all business units with a focus on year-round seasonal staff ministry and care. Ideally, This position lives at our Resort in Rosseau, ON in order to be part of our community at a deeper level.

Key Job Functions

 

Recruit, interview and hire, seasonal staff:

  • Develop and participate in staff recruitment initiatives to increase the quantity and diversity of applicants
  • Review applications, references and profiles.
  • Interview and hire seasonal staff
  • Manage applications and all employee information in the online HR Database system.
  • Conduct telephone reference checks
  • Help to coordinate and implement all Staff Development Weeks
  • Manage Growth Rings process for staff retention.
  • Respond to all HR and staff care needs throughout the year and during the summer months

 

Coordinate Summer Volunteer Program:

  • Review all applications and offer interviews.
  • Interview all applicants, offer contracts, and place accordingly.
  • Communicate all information leading up to the volunteer’s week(s) at camp.
  • Welcome, host and follow up with volunteers throughout the week to ensure they feel welcome and are connected into the community

 

Year-round seasonal staff growth and development initiatives

  • Research and present content and creative ideas for year-round Cadence services
  • Plan, coordinate and execute Cadence, small groups, one to ones and bible studies
  • Lead, manage and hold accountable the Staff Coach CORE staff.
  • Lead a small group and participate in one-to-one mentoring relationships.
  • Contribute to overall ideas and execution of leadership development and personal growth initiatives for seasonal staff.

 

Seasonal staff care, community and culture

  • Brainstorm, initiate and facilitate “creative care” initiatives for seasonal staff.
  • Lead weekly CORE meetings and oversee all community events
  • Manage year-round administrative tasks such as van bookings, cabin clean up, health care needs
  • Participate in community life by attending socials, eating meals with staff, hosting small get togethers etc.
  • Work alongside staff when needed in all departments including maintenance, kitchen, housekeeping and program.

 

Other

  • Participate in weekly L10 meetings.
  • Participate in other meetings as needed.
  • Participate in corporate events including Town Hall, Arboretum and annual Retreat.
  • Personal and professional development.
  • Other requests as outlined by the Director of HR.

Experience Required

  • College Diploma/University degree in a related field (Ministry, Business Administration and/or Human Resources)
  • 1 to 2 years of work experience in ministry, administration, Human Resources or a related field
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Summer Camp experience is preferred
  • G Driver’s license

 

Essential Functions

  • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to communicate both written and verbal with guests and staff.
  • Able to maintain energy to work 8 to 10 hours a day

 

Salary Range

$38,000 – $45,000/ year including room and board

Location

This position is located at our resort in Rosseau, ON.  Room and board is available as part of the overall compensation package dependant on availability of accommodation.
